Welcome letter

International Symposium for Chinese Medicinal Chemists (ISCMC), which is held biennially, is one of the major academic activities in medicinal chemistry researchers worldwide. Through lecture learning and both podium and poster presentations, the symposia provide a platform for communicating and exchanging experience, scientific ideas, cutting edge technologies and novel findings. The participants can strengthen international collaboration, learn the international trends, innovations and drug R&D, promote research achievement and increase the opportunities of technology transfer. The major goal of the symposium is to promote and to contribute to significant achievements by Chinese medicinal chemists, increasing their global recognition and promoting translational drug development.

The first ISCMC symposium was successfully held in Taipei in 1998. Since then, eight symposia (2^nd ~9^th) have been successfully held in Chengdu, Hong Kong, Taipei, Nanjing, Shanghai, Kaohsiung/Pingtung, Beijing and Shenyang during 2000 and 2014. The symposia continue to obtain high recognition worldwide and get fully support from Chinese scientists and professionals in medicinal chemistry and various fields, such as chemistry, natural product chemistry, drug analysis, pharmacology and biochemistry. The ISCMC has been recognized as one of the important academic activities worldwide because of the increasing international impact.

The 10^th ISCMC with the theme “Dedication in Medicinal Chemistry toward Victory in Drug Discovery” will be hosted by School of Pharmacy, National Taiwan University from 18 January to 24 January 2016. The first three-day (1/18-1/20) program includes plenary and invited lectures presented by eminent speakers from both academia and industry. Both podium and poster presentations of submitted lab work will be discussed as well. An optional visit tour to local pharmaceutical companies and universities is arranged in the other four days of the symposium. This symposium will offer opportunities for interaction, networking and even for collaboration amongst investigators, faculty members and students from a lot of universities, academic organizations and pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
