Graduation Procedure Qualification for Doctorate Program Thesis

NTU School of Pharmacy Doctorate Program Student Qualification Assessment and Evaluation Procedure (2001)
(Applicable to students applying for admission into the doctorate program after school year 2001)

  1. This set of regulations is hereby established under the aim of upgrading the research proficiency and training of doctoral degree program graduate students, and under the provisions of the National Taiwan University Implementation Rules of the Doctoral Degree Program Candidate Qualification Evaluation.
  2. The School of Pharmacy organizes a Doctoral Degree Program Candidate Qualification Examination Committee (hereafter referred as the Doctoral Program Examination Committee) at the beginning of each school year. Said committee is composed of three to five committee members, with the Department Head acting as a natural committee member cum committee chairperson. Other seats in the committee are to be occupied by full-time faculty members of the School of Pharmacy, holding positions of assistant professor or higher. Where circumstances require, the School shall employ the services of a professor from another university to assume a seat in the committee.
  3. Students taking the doctoral degree candidate qualification examination should have completed at least one year of doctoral degree course education. Where applicant is a master student taking a doctoral degree course, a minimum education of two years is required; moreover, student should have taken and passed all the prerequisite subjects and units of the course.
  4. The student qualification examination is divided into the written test and interview sections. An applicant passing the written test may apply for an interview schedule. The written test examination panel and interview panel members are subject to the appointment of the Doctoral Program Examination Committee.
  5. The written test section of the School of Pharmacy doctoral degree program candidate qualification examination is conducted on the last Fridays of May and December of each year; students enrolling in the doctoral degree program should file their applications before February 28 and September 30 of each year.
  6. The subjects covered in the written test section of the qualification examination are subject matters related to the different fields of study offered in the School of Pharmacy doctoral degree program.
  7. In the qualification examination interview section, the applicant is required to present a research report on a subject not directly related to the doctoral degree thesis for the evaluation and approval of the interview panel.
  8. Applicants passing the qualification examination and evaluation become natural candidates to the doctoral degree program. Applicants who fail the qualification examination and evaluation may apply for re-test, and where applicants are to fail said re-testing, applicants shall be ordered to drop out of the university.
  9. Upon the approval resolution of the Department Affairs Meeting, said set of regulations should be forwarded to the Academic Affairs Office for evaluation and ratification. Implementation follows ratification. The same procedure shall be true for all future amendments.
  10. This set of regulations shall be applicable to all students enrolling in school year 2001 and thereafter.
